I love your designs, so whats next? What can I expect after I call Grant Design Studio?
Great question, and the answer is pretty simple. First, we will set up an appointment with you to meet for 30 45 minutes. Whether you know exactly what you want or have no clue at all, we'll work with you to develop the perfect invitation that matches your personality, theme and event location. Bring everything with you that could possibly be an inspiration to your invitations (colors, magazine clippings, bridesmaid dress picture, your favorite flower, etc.). After going through various samples, we will begin to understand the styles you like or dislike and start the design from there. By the end of the session, we will have a a preliminary design layout, and well send you a proposal for your invitations within the next day or two. Thats it!
What if I dont live in California, but I really want to work with Grant Design Studio?
Fear not, out of state dwellers! We love to meet our clients in person, but plenty of work we do is across the country. The Internet and the trusty old phone really make it easy to work long distance.
What are your prices like?
Since most jobs are custom, we cant really state an exact price. The price of invitation sets depend on the design, as well as the quantity ordered. We definitely try to be competitive with other invitation designers, but remember, most of our work is one of a kind, and custom designed for you! With our process, you pay for a product that you actually want, instead of just picking what is available.
Whats the best thing about working with Grant Design Studio?
The best thing about working with us, besides our design ability, is our flexibility. If you want two different information cards, a special map, or ANY* other thing you can think of, we can provide this for you, without any hassle. Most invitation companies can offer an invitation, but you are left to fend for yourself when it comes to any additional information or a map to your event. We can do all of this and keep it coordinated with the rest of your set. We can also accommodate most last minute changes, provided production has not started- A luxury you cannot enjoy many other places.
Does everything have to be custom? What if I like one of the designs I see on the website?
If you like one of the designs you have already seen, then weve got it really easy. You most definitely can order the same invitation you see, and we can update as necessary to suit your needs.
Does Grant Design Studio do anything else besides invitations?
Of course! We are always up for new challenges; so, if you have an idea youd like to run past us, definitely feel free to contact us.
In regards to printing, youve mentioned digital printing and letterpress. What does each mean?
Digital printing and letterpress are the main types of printing we do in-house, but we can out-source offset printing if the project calls for it. By digital printing, we mean we use the finest quality laser and inkjet printers. We often use this form of printing because it allows a wide range of ink colors and paper types in an invitation, while keeping the costs down compared to offset printing. Digital printing requires no setup expenses and is extremely flexible right up until and through production time. The quality is high and the finished product beautiful.
Letterpress printing is a 500 year old time-honored craft. Leaving an inked impression into the paper, letterpress printed invitations have both a look and feel that distinguishes them from the rest. Letterpress invitations are prized for their elegance, beauty and artistic charm. Once upon a time it was the main method of printing, but with the proliferation of commercial offset printing, the labor intensive art of letterpress was widely retired about 50 years ago. There are only a handful of printers today who continue to preserve this artform commercially. We are proud to be young members of this passionate group of craftspeople! Our letterpress machine is a Chandler & Price "Old Style" platen press made in 1892 and weighs in at 800 pounds! For more on letterpress, we have dedicated a whole page to the craft, so please check it out to learn more.
* No, REALLY! ANYthing! Just ask and we bet we'll figure something out for you... made you look...
